Thoughts on using C++ Primer (5th edition) as first serious exposure to programming?
My only programming experience was using Java in APCS many years ago. I didn't really take that class seriously so I only remember the bare bare basics of programming concepts, so I'm basically a complete beginner starting from scratch. I got my hands on the C++ Primer book but I'm wondering if it's a good idea to jump straight into it. I don't necessarily care about learning difficulty, but some people say it's best to learn C before C++. Would learning C++ through this book first do any harm?
